A Cafe Outing (O2A)

Pretty much the same here. I have to get my folks something nice out of my hot shot pro-wrestler money and I’ve got one sister but she’s a lot less settled than your relatives so no husband, no kids and she’s pretty easy to take care of as well.

She starts to take another sip, then abruptly stops and leans in on Andrew.

OK, I’ve held out as long as I possibly can, I have to hear all about this new mystery person. And I mean everything.

[Shelby Danes]

Shelby nods, "Family is family, and I love mine, despite the hell they pull me through every holiday season."

Just as she finished her sentence, and waitress came up, asking if they needed anything. Shelby, surprised, took this chance to satisfy her thirst. "Just a bottled water please," she replied, looking up, and realizing she recognized the waitress. They began to chat, allowing Jennifer and Andrew to continue their private little discussion.

He only smiled at the thought of Kelly. He hadn't even really thought so much more on it, other than how much he was into her after running into her at the park. Then Starbucks...

"She's a really, really pretty girl. I ran into her at a park not too long ago and ended up spending a lot of time with her. And... actually, ran into her after I overheard her talking about GCW... so she wrestles with us. Only one small problem...

She wrestles on your guy's show. I saw it earlier this morning... the draft kinda split us... I got put on MayheM. So, I'm gonna have to get back with her later today on it all, but her name is Kelly."

She smiled living his excitement vicariously. It was good that things were moving ahead for him she thought.

Really, well it's great to hear it. I’ve never met this Kelly chick but I guess she’s cool if you’re into her but I guess we’ll probably see her around though, won’t we? And don’t worry about the whole trans-show deal, it’s way easier than it sounds. You’ll probably have time you don’t know what to do with.

"Probably... I mean, it only really takes like, two days to go from city to city and back home again, right? It's not like we're wrestling five days a week... Sounds like one hell of a life if you ask me.

Ever have any of that type of experience, Shelby? Wrestling career, instead of wrestling soccer mom's at the mall?"

[Shelby Danes]

After a final laugh, the waitress and Shelby stop chatting up a storm, and she focuses her attention at her company at the table. She hears Andrew's question and answers, "My wrestling career has been my life Andrew," she nods to herself, "There's been weeks where I've wrestled six out of the seven days of the week, and let me tell you, I'm scarcely tired by that seventh day. I almost don't want to drive home." She then leans back in her chair, "There's been months where it seems I'm living out of motels, and that's quite the experience."

She then revives her posture and continues, "It's tough when you're living on an indy wrestler's salary, you have to take what you can get. Maybe now that I'm here at GCW, I can finally relax a bit. That's what we all want, right? To finally relax?"

She nods.

Yep, that’s pretty much the key here. And I’ve never had a problem doing that unless someone’s gunning for me. You’ll either get used to the not driving, flying, and all after getting thoroughly thrashed every night, or you’ll go insane with nothing to do. They’re both fun options.

Guess it’ll be different for both of you since you’re coming out of MMA, won’t it, Andrew?

"Yeah... but the furthest I have gone for a fight was Dallas, so it's not like I had to travel much doing that. If they didn't keep me for observation following that fight, I would have been home by three in the morning. Got rocked a nasty one before I made the other guy tap out to an arm-bar... it sucked.

I can imagine first time I gotta wake up in a strange city's hospital doing this stuff... it'll be... weird, I guess."

Shelby shook her head, "Waking in a hospital without a clue where you are sucks, I can tell you that much." She rolls her shoulders trying to get herself comfortable as she continues, "I got knocked out cold in a match some years ago. A rookie decided it was time to test out a new move that's 'never been seen before,' and she failed to mention it before our match started, so right she applied it, I landed right on my noggin." She then leaned back in her chair again, "It caused quite the commotion, people thought I might've broken my neck, but luckily I just went home with a really, really, really mild headache."

Kelly stood quietly outside of the GCW weight room. A little pissed and a little hurt. She had just seen the rosters posted. She was on Lock Up. and Andy was on MayheM. She knew this would happen. She knew they'd get seperated...Why was it every time something good happened for her, it just got all fucked up. Seriously? Dialing in Andy's number she took a long deep breath.

*Ring......Ring*[/center]

[andy]

"Excuse me for a moment..."

Andrew pulled out his cell phone, sitting at the table with the two women, looking at the caller ID...

"That's her... I've got to go and take this. Shelby, it was nice meeting you, Jen, it's always a pleasure... but I'm guessing someone saw the draft lists, so you'll understand if I split for the day, right?"

He stood up, flipping open the phone.

"Hey... I take it you saw the news?"

With that, he started walking away towards the front of the restaraunt to gather his coat and stuff.

She watches him walk off with a smirk.

Must be nice, rich, famous, always surrounded by women who look like… well us.

She laughs hoping Shelby wouldn’t think she was conceited… well not overly so.

So, I guess we were on hospital horror stories. I’ve had a couple of those, mostly from back when I was undertrained and underpaid out on the road letting people hit me with whatever debris collected under the ring. Which is not to say some of the people you’ll see around here didn’t decide it would be fun to just drop me on my head as hard as they could.

Shelby chuckled on Jennifer's comment. Shelby never considered herself "attractive" by any means, but then again, that could be because she wasn't really too found on making her hair absolutely perfect, or putting too much make-up on. She then responds, "Our heads seem to get wost of it. The most damaging moves seem to be head involved. It's amazing how much pain we let ourselves endure."

The waitress then comes, and hands Shelby her bottled water. She thanks her, and continues with the conversation after taking a sip, "Have you ever broken anything? I've broken fingers, toes, my right arm, the list goes on and on, and not just from wrestling I might add."

I’ve been pretty healthy for the last two years but back before it occurred to me that I could end up an arm, ribs, a foot, and I was inches away from catching my jaw once. Of course I say all this but I really haven’t quite learned my lesson yet. Either showmanship or stupidity’s to blame for that.

She’d try to wrap her head around what she just said later. Right now her company was more interesting.

So you moonlighting in some other super dangerous sport while you’re here or did the other stuff just happen as a kid?

"Pure stupidity," Shelby responded laughing, "Hell, I still make stupid mistakes to this very day." She paused to take another sip of her water, "You see, I have five brothers, all of which love professional wrestling. So, as I grew up, I would always get put into some wrestling maneuvers. I've broken my arm twice getting put into wrestling moves. I've broken the same finger three times." She pauses, and holds up her left hand, showing her left middle finger, "Look, it doesn't look really daunting now does it?" She laughs. "I use it as an example to tell my younger nieces and nephews that God does this to your finger if you use it too much."
