Bio:
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to an upper middle class family, Jacob Cruise was actually a very shy child for the earlier portion of his life. Still, he managed to always be the somewhat popular type. The center of attention I guess you could say, even if he didn't want it. Really, Cruise always seemed more concerned with making himself into a perfectionist and having things work his way rather than caring about how other people perceived him or worrying how they felt about the way he did things.
Though Cruise's father was a severe alcoholic, the man always seemed to make up for his lack of consciousness during the week by taking Jacob to local wrestling events on the weekends. This was where his love of the sport began.
In his mid teens, Cruise, along with then best friend Travis Tyler, built a makeshift wrestling ring in Cruise's backyard. For two amateurs, they actually did a good job construction wise. And when it came time to actually wrestle in it, they shined even more. So much so, that every person, young and old, in the neighborhood wanted to be a part of the little wrestling promotion they put together. Ironically, this small ring, originally built as nothing more than a fun way to pass time, grew to the size of the small wrestling events Cruise's father had taken him to as a child.
Sadly though, the shows eventually got out of hand. Becoming nothing more than backyard wrestling carnival sideshows. Cruise, being a technical submissionist who prided himself on sticking to classic wrestling styles, couldn't, and still can't to this day, stand the hardcore fighting style. Finally, Cruise and Tyler agreed on closing down the ring and making it open only to their closest friends.
Still using the ring to spar frequently with other friends, Cruise had finally perfected the move that he dubbed the Cruise-Control. A deadly submission move that originally strained the opponents neck beyond its breaking point. One day, while sparring against Travis Tyler, Cruise locked in this new move, snapping his friends neck in the process. Its still unknown to this day what happened to Cruise, but much like Tyler's neck, Cruise had snapped as well. Not releasing the hold even after he heard the breaking of Tyler's neck. Rather, he applied the move stronger, a glowing anger showing in his eyes, until friends finally had to pull him off. Tyler was immediately taken to the hospital while Cruise packed his bags and left for good.
He struggled at first, no wrestling promotion wanting to hire a no named nobody off the streets. Finally, when he thought all hope was lost, he stumbled upon the XWWS. The only company to give him a chance to prove himself in the ring. Though the company based itself around the hardcore fighting style Cruise despised, he had to make due with what he was given.
The XWWS was basically a dark spot on Cruise's career. He suffered some humiliating defeats, and, ironically, ran into Travis Tyler here once more. A man who was looking for, and got, his revenge. Burying Cruise alive and ending his XWWS career just mere weeks before the company itself had to close.
When XWWS moved to TNB, Cruise's contract was reinstated. Though he basically did very little here, just enough to earn a paycheck and get out most weeks. One of his biggest accomplishments did take place here however. He proved himself to be one of the best submissionists in the business by making former 'Sultan of Submission' Chris Lionheart tap nearly three times as many times as he did in an ultimate submission match.
This lead to a long and decent feud between the two, thought to be ended by Cruise smashing Lionheart's face in with a lead pipe, causing Lionheart to leave for a short while and return with a face protector. Though, much like Travis Tyler, Lionheart returned with vengeance on mind. When he did finally get his hands on Cruise again, he broke Cruise's leg. This eventually leading to Cruise's release from TNB.
After a short healing period, full of binge drinking mostly, Cruise re-emerged in the wrestling world at FCW. Winning his first title, the FCW Great Lakes Title, this is where Cruise's career finally began to take off some. Though, his accomplishments were still meager at best. A few other firsts in his career took place here as well. He made his first worthwhile acquaintances in FCW, those being Cameron Kincaid and Fernando Castro. He attempted his first ever tag match. Teaming with aformetnioned Kincaid in an attempt to go after the tag titles, and, he got in his first bar fight. Well, more so a bar asswhoopin' as a gun pointed to his head sobered him up enough to realize it was best he left.
This all inevitably leading to himself and his tag team partner Kincaid being sent to AA meetings if they wanted to keep their jobs in the company. They both managed to attend one, then, Cruise seemed to disappear off the face of the wrestling world. Only returning to FCW one more time for its farewell show in a match against his old friend Travis Tyler. Which, one more, he lost.
Now, with his slate....somewhat clean. Cruise, along with a few old friends it seems, will give the business another shot as he attempts to prove his Gaaaaaawdly status in Chicago....
