Bio:
Gregory Shaddix, also known to the wrestling world as Blaze, was born into a middle class family in the Kansas City, Missouri area. His father was a well known masked wrestler who traveled the world wrestling in many small Indie promotions and Mexican wrestling leagues. He never made it to the big time, but he always provided enough money to support his family. Though his occupation seemed to keep him away from his family most of the time. Yet he tried to videotape all of his matches and send them home. These videotapes consumed Blaze's free time. He watched them over and over, studying every headlock and highflying move. Wrestling eventually became not only Blaze's biggest hobby, but his life....
October 8th, 1999 became a day never forgotten by Blaze. His father had finally retired after a grueling 18 years on and off of wrestling. He was returning home from his final match overseas at one of the Indie promotions he worked for, when his plane crashed. The wreckage was so devastating, an identifiable body was never found. This hit all of Blaze's family hard, but practically killed him inside. His life began to spiral from that point on.
Blaze eventually ended up falling in with a Gothic crowd. Not to long after that, he dropped out of school and began taking drugs heavily. Blaze's mother finally got tired of putting up with what he had become. She eventually kicked him out when he was seventeen. The next few years were hard for Blaze. He had to take up two jobs to support himself. Just barely being able to afford a small apartment across the street from the gym he trained at. Though his jobs consumed most of his life, he always found time to train. A small makeshift ring was eventually installed in the gym. This, eventually leading to his first encounter with Psycho...
Their first encounter was far from friendly. It was a meeting in that very ring, both of them being recognized as two of the top wrestlers in KC. It was a grueling match that eventually ended in a double knock out with neither one of them being able to continue to compete. They gained much respect for each other in that match and ended up becoming tag team partners and best friends...
Months later, Blaze's apartment caught on fire. He was trapped on the fourth floor with no where to go. The memory of how he survived it is still a blur. His only memory, a ladder propped against the window. At his best guess, he believes he passed out due to all the smoke inhalation and a firefighter saved his life, using that ladder to climb through his window and rescue him. Though some pieces to the story just don't fit. Mostly, the fact that when he awoken, he was in the middle of the ring in the gym. No matter what truly happened, Blaze took it as a sign. A sign that wrestling would save him from the horrible path in life he was heading down...
Just a few weeks later, Blaze boarded a plane to Mexico. He had signed a contract with a small Mexican Wrestling Promotion. Like his father, he was a masked wrestler who used the luchador style. He went by the name of 'El Inferno'. He didn't last there for long though before hearing about the WTF.
Taking up the ring name Blaze, he returned to America and signed up with the WTF. Ironically, running back in to Psycho here and teaming up with him yet again. Though they were dominate as a tag team, winning the tag team titles, Blaze was also very dominate in singles competition. Winning the Wrath and Pro titles both in the same night. Sadly though, Blaze returned to his old ways and began taking up drugs again. Failing the mandatory drug test, Blaze was suspended from the WTF....
Finally realizing he needed help, Blaze went to rehab. Disappearing from wrestling and from headlines for a few weeks. Surprisingly though, upon his return, he created his own Federation. The Xtreme World Wrestling Society, also known as the XWWS. Him and an old buddy founded the company, but not wanting to have to handle all the politics, hired another friend of theirs to act as the companies CEO. Things ran smoothly for awhile, but eventually the CEO quit and the company fell apart. At one last feeble attempt to prove the XWWS's dominance, they invaded WCW....
However a family crisis had hit Blaze hard yet again when his wife Akira had gotten injured in a mixed tag match in the wrestling promotion LXW. This caused him to have to take some personal time from each company, wanting to stay by her side. Unfortunately, his personal time was cut short by a small faction called the Familia. They had crossed the line, doing something unmentionable to his unconscious wife while videotaping it all. Upon returning, Blaze took up a full time contract with the LXW and began exchanging not only verbal, but physical assaults with the Familia. While over in WCW him and Psycho had teamed up again and won the Tag titles. Proving themselves to be a dominant tag team where ever they go...
After a long lasting, and very brutal, feud with the Familia, Blaze finally began to make a name for himself in LXW. Winning the Pro title, although it was a short lived championship reign, and then moving up to win the Ringmasters title shortly there after. While all the while still retaining the tag titles in WCW.
Sadly though, Blaze's paychecks began to fall short of paying the bills of the extravagant lifestyle he now wanted to live. And he was forced to take up another contract with a bit more wealthier company known as the WWE Havoc. Working three companies, with Havoc definitely being the hardest and most time consuming of them all, his performance began to slip in the other two.....
He and Psycho were stripped of the tag titles in WCW, as all titles were stripped for an overhaul of the company. After an impressive reign as champs though, beating some of the most renowned tag teams around, Blaze was finally satisfied with his tag team performance and him and Psycho went there separate ways. Blaze then went on to win the U.S title and then the Intercontinental championships in WWE Havoc. Making a name for himself there.
Sadly following all this success though, Blaze was placed on medical discharge from many of those companies he once worked for. Rumors circulated that he may sign a contract with APW, but everyone questioned if he would be in shape to compete. Only time would tell if Blaze could stay clean and battle his past demons to make his name as prestigious as it once was in the wrestling world.
For awhile, it truly seemed so. Becoming the first ever APW World Champion, it looked as if Blaze were returning to his glory days. Only to be brought back down by the signing of a new female wrestler to APW who happened to be a former 'lover' of Blaze's by the name of Lindsay Corban. This is when his life began to change once more. Especially upon finding out that he had a daughter, and the mother, Lindsay, would do anything in her power to keep him away from her. Driving him to eventually kidnap his own daughter just to see her.
Finally, this dispute is ended though when Blaze wins his daughters custody papers in a ladder match against the one and only Jonny Pyro. Which also leads to the firing of Pyro from APW. However, Blaze can't force himself to seperate Lindsay from their daughter. So, he decides to give Lindsay the custody papers and give up all rights to see his daughter. One of the hardest things he's ever had to do in his life. Thus, finally leading into the biggest change of Blaze's career...
The death of Blaze. And the rebirth of the man beind the makeup, Gregory Shaddix. After winning the APW World Title for a second time, Shaddix has proven himself once more to be one of the top dogs. But with everything in his life so hectic, would he be able to stay at the top of his game? Or wouldl he crash and burn yet again?...
He just won't die....Blaze that is. It wasn't the same. The fans chanting Shaddix instead of Blaze. Coming out onto the stage to a rap/hip-hop song rather than the heavy metal and rock music that had kept him going throughout his younger years. Sadly, he was trapted by a legal loophole which would not allow him to return to his Blaze gimmick while in APW though. So, when he recieved a call from former rival and boss Chris Lionheart...He jumped at the chance to return to the ring as Blaze....In XWA!
Still, something felt...Out of place? Missing? He couldnt explain it...But Blaze knew something was still gone from his life. That one small thing being...Returning to his roots. WTF. His original dream of becoming a VWE wrestler was never accomplished. A failed goal that still constantly ate at Blaze. Wanting to prove that he could make it, Blaze appeared in WTF for the third time.
After enjoying short stints in a few other companies, all the while trying to keep strong in WTF, Blaze now also finds himself in Chicago. The windy city presenting a new opportunity to him. but with so much going on in his personal life at the moment, can he juggle a wrestling career on top of it all?....
