It had been days since he had seen her last, since the moment where once again life turned upside down for him and decided to see how much pain it could force on him. This time though unlike the others it had been to much the loss of his family a year ago, and now Lindsay's sudden change and seeming hatred of him had proven to much. All he could feel now was pain and nothing he did seemed to make it go away. To make matters worse Lindsay hadn't contacted him and she wasn't returning his calls to try and talk to her to make sense of what had happened, all he was left with was the cold stare she had given him as he left. No hope thats what he felt and it was time to take care of that. He loaded a few belongings into his car nothing much more than what he would need for what lay ahead. The drive would take fifteen or more hours at least considering where he had to head, that would be plenty of head start not that he figured there was anyone left to miss him. Yes it was finally time to end the pain finally time to end it the only way he could. He had been driving for maybe a half an hour when his cell rang in his haste to leave he had forgotten to turn it off. The voice on the other end caught him completely off guard and he pulled over to listen to just what was being said.

As soon as he heard the phone on the other end pick up Steven spoke up without waiting to hear who it was, since he knew of only one person that could possibly answer this line. So boy do you recognize my voice still after all these years or have you forgotten your dear old dad. Believe me when I say I haven't forgotten about you Mark, nor what happened the last time we met and well quite frankly it's time we settled that little issue. Now I'll be waiting for you in my home town of Chicago Mark my son and if you show up here we'll play a little game that will leave things settled between me and you once and for all, on the other hand should you choose to ignore this invitation then everyone you care about will suffer for it. As a matter of fact I already have my first victim picked out that lovely little friend of yours Jordan Kelly. I did leave a bit of loose ened there considering she survived the "accident" that took the lives of your boys last year so it seems only right to fix that, and in case your to stunned at the moment to put two an two together Mark I'll be blunt. I was driving the vehicle that ended those two young lives and unless you want me to finish the job I'd hurry to Chicago or I'll start the game with out you. Steven hung up the phone then without waiting for a word from Mark. This call had been meant to intice his son into coming to Chicago were the games that followed could be played on his terms and by his rules. It also had the side benefit of dredging up old painful memories that were sure to keep Mark from thinking at his best and make him easier to deal with. A slow evil grin spread across the face of Steven oh yes it was time for a revenge that had been waiting seventeen years but now there was nothing to stop it.

Mark heard the line go dead before he could even answer. He at in stunned silence not believing what he had just heard it wasn't possible that he could be here or alive it just wasn't possible, and yet he had heard that familiar and oh so hated voice all the same and this couldn't have come at a worse time. Already perilously close to the breaking point mentally as it was this pushed him that much closer to breaking completly right on the spot. Why did it seem so much to him like life itself had suddenly decide to lash out against him first having Lindsay leave him and ripping his heart out when she did, and now when all he wanted was to kill the pain that seemed to never end this is dropped in his lap. He seriously considered just leaving it all behind and continuing on with the plan he had already come up with to end the pain of his broken life but couldn't. Jordan was innocent and his mistake from all those years ago had almost cost her once before he couldn't allow it to happen this time. Checking map he wheeled the car back onto the road and gunned the engine heading for Chicago and a final meeting with his father, his only wish that when all was said and done this would end his pain as well as his father's miserable existence.
