Lauren found herself inside the arena for GCW’s last ever show, standing where the ring would be it felt surreal like she had merely arrived at the arena a week early or something. Inside herself she had some regrets and some feelings that if only she could turn back time she’d have done this differently or that differently. Placing her sunglasses in the pocket of her jacket, she looked around the arena of course it wasn’t set up for a wrestling event so it looked even more empty than it would pre show time. Lauren closed her eyes and the memories and voices flooded into the arena, from Graciela’s announcing of her name to the verbal wars she had with opponents and some that she never had the chance to work with.
Opening her eyes she again was hit by the reality that GCW was no more, its assets frozen in the grip of the global economic crisis. Not even the wrestler’s working for free would make the show go on, sadly GCW was victim to a beast that seemingly no company was safe from. Lauren then walked toward where the ramp would be, some arenas were like mazes but this one she knew well it just happened to be the arena she made her wrestling debut in of course back then it would not be filled like it could with GCW. She held many memories which came back to her as she walked throw the corridors her heels echoing and to her this was a lonely sound and one that Lauren wasn’t accustomed to.
Lauren looked at the doors and in this arena she had occupied a lot of the dressing rooms, but she had one which she felt was her favorite. It wasn’t big but it was one of the first dressing rooms she called her own. Lauren pressed her hand against the door hoping that it would be open and to her surprise it actually was, she looked around the room and it wasn’t setup like it would be for her when she would be there for business. No place for her stuff, no screens, no hooks it seemed it was a forgotten storage area in the building that only had a use for wrestlers or live performers. Sometimes Lauren only got this room by request but it was one of those special places for her that others probably didn’t see why it was special.
Lauren took a deep breath although she was no longer a contracted GCW Debutante although at this point nobody was, but she had planned to attend GCW Global Supremacy in some capacity even if it was just a quick wave to the cameras and watching at ringside. Even though she left in a shocking manner and some fans still speculate as to the real reasons behind it. Lauren then left the room turning the light off before closing the door. Lauren then walked toward the usual exit she would take, she reached the door and pushed down the handle and opened the door. Before going through it she took one last look back it wasn’t the closure she was after but it was the only closure she would get.
Lauren thought of the people she worked with in GCW and this was so many, lovers been and gone, new friends, old friends, some she respected greatly, others who were slowly earning it, she thought of most of the wrestlers that passed through GCW’s doors, some there until the end, some just a flying visit and some like her who would have been top players but there were too many what ifs to worry about. Stepping through the door and her hair blowing in the wind as she put her sunglasses on to protect her eyes from the sun and also cover her watery eyes. Lauren let go of the door and it closed with a clunk which echoed through the corridor probably for the last time.
