30 minutes. Just right.
That thud you hear is me dropping down on my ass in the corner.
Wrestling Lessien when you're healthy hurts like a car crash, combined with a plane crash, combined with listening to any promo I cut over a year ago, but this was complete torture. If there were any justice in the universe I'd be allowed to take a little nap here, I'd wake up in bed and none of this would have happened but I don't know about that one.
I just have to sit and take it a while longer since the “herbal supplements” and “energy drinks” I'd downed about 45 minutes ago to feel somewhat normal weren't working so much any more.
Other side effects may inlcude reality.
Deirdre, Deirdre fucking Hahn who I'd known forever since her family set up in the same horrible part of Cincinnati as mine, had just set me up to give this monster an advantage against me knowing there was no guarantee she'd even stop when she did.
The same Deirdre Hahn who had just jumped up from her seat, grabbed my belt from the timekeeper and was now down on her knees in tears offering it to me.
Maybe she was right about me. Lauren I mean. It was pretty tough to lift myself up and begin my excruciating limp over. At the rate I was moving I'd have plenty of time to figure out what to do by the time I made it.
By now I'd completely lost track of Lessien.

~Which was just as well after the devastating Super Kick in the final minutes... she had plummeted from the radar screen... Betty, Alice and all the lines they had written spilled from the ring into an unconscious barely living heap of flesh and breath. Nothing was cool to the touch... she couldn't feel a thing.~
~30 minutes had been 10 minutes too long for her. The wind... dead calm.~
~She didn't see the drama unfolding in the ring. It would probably be days before she did... what was Deirdre to her but a failed prop on a story that had gotten away from the writer? Sweet nothing is where they slipped to.~
~No words, she would be half carted away eventually, and when she awoke?
A dangerous question.
What happen when the dead wake-up still here...~

Just take it please. I can't stand you looking at me like that.
I stood up and closed the distance between us with my arms out as Jennifer took the belt and dropped it behind her.
The expression on her face was just too complex to read, I knew because I'm sure I was beaming the Bizarro version right back at her.
Jennifer held for a moment then hobbled forward a moment to give me a nie big hug. Oh, the guilt. That was the worst part of all. Jennifer's nice but I wasn't really expecting saintly here tonight. It was nice though. Everything felt kind of normal as she took a step back
Except...
Her arm's still behind my neck.

I had to look at her in the eye, up close one more time. I could read the whole story. Fear, check, regret, check, malice aforethought?
Damn it, that's a check.
I think this merits melodramatic.
I know what happened. You broke my heart, Dee Dee.
When I moved her off I had her at just the right distance and whatever it was didn't let me hesitate. I felt the shock and pain all the way up to my head as my foot bounced off her temple.
She was out. Out, not dead. I know I did it right. Not that I bothered to check. I really couldn't bring myself to look so I just collected my belt, the only thing I had left and did my pathetic little walk off. Yeah, everyone was watching me but I couldn't really fight off the tears as I heard everyone reacting in horror all around me.
I must look like a real champ right about now.
