What was it exactly that drew them here? Was it the silence? Was it the peace? Was it the few moments they were allowed to get away from everything? He wasn't sure. But, he knew that it was probably the most popular place at night back in Ohio.
A slight breeze filled the night sky as he looked up at the moon. He was sitting on the rooftop of the GCW Tower, leaning back against one of the ventilation shafts that ran down into the building. He had his head leaned back, looking up at the stars, thoughts in his head running a million miles an hour as memories surfaced. It was truly a serene setting that he had missed for quite some time. The calmness in the air soothed him.
It was just days before Mind Games. He needed an escape to clear his head so he could focus. This was one of his personal rituals that it seemed many had adopted as well. This rooftop though? Nobody up here but him. Seems they weren't quite as popular as in the old days. Perhaps it was for the best? Who knows. He closed his eyes, an almost euphoric feeling overtaking him as his mind continued to remember the past....

Cal was back in Chicago and back in the tower, there were a lot of memories of this place, some good, some bad and even some better kept to himself. Cal watched as Bryan Daniels was appearing to be in some form of a reflecting mood. Cal pushed the door open more so he could go out onto the rooftop, it clattered against the side since Cal was rarely subtle and he always liked to draw some attention to himself when others were around, just in his nature Cal guessed.
"So taking in the night's air?"
Cal then sat next to Daniels before extending his hand.
"Cal Cross... fire."
He said introducing himself, but unsure about saying his name or his stage name. Sometimes it was difficult to tell which he'd use at any given time. Bryan was a wrestler himself so Cal guessed he had that trouble too.

He opens his eyes, looking over to Cal as he approached and took a seat beside him. He listened to what he had to say, glancing down at his hand as it was extended. He looked back up to the eyes of Cal, accepting his handshake as he does so.
Bryan Daniels.
He looked back up at the stars as he continued the conversation.
Just an old habit of my own. A pre-match ritual before big matches. It's always peaceful on the rooftop. Not many people coming up here. It allows me to clear my head. To get myself focused before competing in the ring.
He took a few moments to reflect further before looking back at Cal.
So, what are you doing up here? Just wanted a breath of fresh air or to get away from everything?

Cal looked around and he liked the rooftops it was normally a quiet spot to think and I could understand pre match rituals.
"Yeah, before big matches myself... well one of the biggest matches of my career I looked inside the chamber. It was my first chamber match so I wanted to get a feel of part of what was instore for me."
Cal paused before thinking of an excuse for him being on the rooftop.
"As for me being here right now I needed some air, couldn't sleep for the paint fumes in my apartment in the tower. I guess they weren't expecting me so soon. Plus it's a quiet place to reflect on things and to think about mistakes made in the past I guess."
Cal then thought for a moment about the big match Bryan had Mindgames just around the corner so he assumed it would be a title match.
"So this big match you have it wouldn't be against an old buddy of mine and his flamboyant partner would it?"

He raised an eyebrow as he glanced over at Cal, then back up at the sky.
If your referring to the Tag Team Champions, then yes it is against them. My partner and I beat the only other real tag team twice. Nobody else was even considering challenging them for the belts, so we jumped on the opportunity. Hell, we even said everything in the book to diss the entire tag division and couldn't get anyone to even attempt a rebuttle. Either they are trying to ignore us or they really are pushovers like we said. I'm hoping that is not the case however.

Cal smirked before replying with
"That is where you are mistaken my friend, because looking at GCW there is no Tag Division. Jack is more focused on glory or vengance against Pryor... naturally because surely the top belt is why we all step into the ring for. Maybe you and Victor can carry the belts and make them more entertaining than they have been this season. Also heard a rumor that those two little Japanese twins might get a shot at them soon. Which be interesting to see how they stack up against the men."
Was Cal being sincere with that or was he just trying to use the rumors he heard to put doubt into Bryan's mind.
"I mean sure they are a good team but you know how it is wrestling is a man's world."
Cal let out a little laugh because he truly believed what he just said but did Bryan?

A smirked appeared in the corner of Showtime's mouth. If Cal only knew about VWE....
I know all too well actually. I have been in the ring with many women before. Legends in this business like Oichi, Veronica Valentine, Anjyl, Kim Hunter, Crymson, and Gung Ho. I've won and lost matches against all of them, whether it be for titles, a main event spot, or just for pride. I've seen some of the others in competition as well over the years. Their fierce competitors, just like we are. Victor and I both know what it's like to be on the receiving end of a woman scorn. We won't be taking XSE lightly if they compete against us. It would be wise of the rest of the tag teams not to either.
A few moments of silence as his thoughts fell on Jyndal and Williams.
As for your friends? I know Jyndal has got a lot on his plate. But, I hope he is focused enough to be ready for us. If we're going to win, I want to have to fight for it. I don't want a couple of pushovers in the ring. Perhaps our match will spark interest in the tag division and make people want to compete again.

Cal smirked as he knew two of the names Bryan mentioned he glanced up at the night's sky before thinking about one of those he mentioned's behind.
"Yeah I know of Veronica Valentine, last year I had a match with her. Man she is one hot mama."
Cal laughed after he remembered the position Veronica got him into, he was powerless to fight and in his mind he felt "meh why fight this, I am in a position most men can only dream of." smiling again and he turned to Bryan.
"Yeah Jack is focused on bigger things, really he should give up the Tag to give 100% to the World title. At the end of the day that title is what brings home the serious cash. I wish you well in bringing some of the focus back to the tag titles, because it's been a well since they were more than just making up the numbers."
Cal then looked up at the moon again before turning back to Bryan.
"So you are new to Chicago but not to the industry, I think I caught some footage of you in Canada sometime or another. Some pretty cool stuff I can see why you got the name Mr. Showtime."

Veronica definitely is something else. One thing is for sure though. If you ever need her, she'll be there.
A cool breeze blew over the rooftop as Showtime kept his eyes on the stars, looking to find what constellations he could recognize as he continued on.
As for Jyndal "giving up" the Tag titles? I certainly hope not. I want a fight. I want to have to earn them. And after our match? I want him to still take it to Pryor in their match. If he wants to be the best, he has to bring more than his A game. He has to bring everything and leave it in the ring. I want to see it at Mind Games.
He smirked, almost a snicker as he thought about his time in Toronto. Not the best time of his life, but a good memory or two made it's way into his thoughts.
Seen me in Canada, eh? Heh. I was there for a month or two at the end of their first season. Mostly doing promotional stuff for ratings and helping mix things up before Game Over. As for being Mr. Showtime? If you liked what I did in Canada, you should see just a glimpse of what I did in Ohio. That's where my name was made. Where it was forever engraved in golden letters when I was named a Legend. Not to sound cocky, but I was probably the single most accomplished person there that never won a World Championship. That's just how tough every person who stepped into a ring there was. I'm beginning to see the same here in GCW in the competition. I gotta tell ya, I'm definitely liking it.

Cal listened as Bryan spoke of his past endeavors in the wrestling business and it seemed he was well traveled Cal hadn't seen any of the stuff in Ohio. Only heard of people from there and that was only because a couple came to GCW toward the end of last season and the beginning of this season.
"Well I'll be honest I don't know a thing about wrestling in Ohio, only the few that traveled to here to work. Like yourself and Veronica Valentine who I wonder what happened to her. I guess we just move in different circles. Well I can give you a brief history of myself, last year in GCW I won the LockUP! Title that is no more."
Cal chuckled as he was sure Bryan probably didn't know that the LockUP! and MayheM Titles unified to become the Mid-Atlantic championship.
"Also I was the third GCW World Champion, not to drop names but I beat Avenger for it and on the wrestling forums it was considered an upset... shows how much they knew."
Cal's tone changed when he mentioned what marks on forums said.
"Well that's all in the past really so I won't dwell. So you are confident against the tag champs because from an outsiders point of view it looks to be a good match up."

Confident?
He ponders the thought for a moment before continuing.
I'm always confident.
His eyes turn to Cal from the sky.
Just never.......OVER......confident.
He looked back toward the sky.
I hope your right about it being a good matchup. I've earned everything I have ever gotten. And if I am to finally win a Tag Team Championship? I want to earn it as well. I hope Jyndal and Williams are ready.
He stands up, dusting himself off a bit as he does so. His eyes stayed on the sky for a few more moments before he looked down at Cal.
It was good to meet you Cal. I hope to see you in the ring soon. Perhaps even across from the ring from me. I always love taking on new competition. It keeps things interesting.
He offered a handshake.
Good talk. We should do this again sometime.

Cal accepted the offer and shook his hand.
"I am sure that someday we will face each other in the ring."
Cal smiled as he stood up and walked a little closer to the edge to look down, good job he had no fear of heights it looked like the streets were busy for this time of night he followed Bryan to the door and left the rooftop. Cal didn't know what Bryan was going to do but Cal had plans to see if the nightlife was like he remembered it was.
"See you around Mr. Showtime"
Cal said as he passed him on the stairs and disappeared into the night...
