Open Challenge It Is

["The Soldier" Carson Freedom]

It was another showing of LockUp! and the crowd as usual anticipated what was to happen next. As the crowd did this, “My Life, Your Entertainment” fired up and at that moment the crowd rose to their feet and began cheering. Carson pushed the black curtain to the side and had appeared onstage. He was sporting a pair of light blue jeans, a red and white decal shirt, and a pair of red and white sneakers. He began walking down the ring turning his head from side to side looking deep into the crowds. He then slid into the ring and mounted the nearest turnbuckle. He lifted his arms up in the air as his signature taunt was performed. Following this he proceeded to the corner of the ring and was handed a microphone. From that point in the ring, he lifted the microphone to his lips.

“First things first. I know that you all heard what Johnny had to say about me last week after the handicap tag team match. There were some pretty harsh words that were said, but that’s not gonna scare me. What difference does it make Johnny that I have made my return? Am I stopping you from doing something you wanted to? I’m not stopping you from doing anything man. You do what you gotta do. Are you scared of me Johnny? I’m starting to sense that that is the reason for all of this. It’s cool though, I’m sure you’ll grow up soon. Now onto your last words Johnny, you’re gonna kill me you say? Now that, that’s intense man. All I gotta say is bring it. I’m not backing down. Go ahead and try and kill me it’s not like I haven’t been in this kind of situation before.”

Before Carson got too much into the situation, he calmed himself down. He took a deep breath before beginning to speak out again.

“Now Johnny, you and Sean are lucky you get a week away from me. You have your little triple threat match to see who will go onto Ascension. Have fun with that because after this week I’m coming right back after the two of you so don’t get too comfortable. So that brings me to the reason why I am out here tonight. Since Johnny and Sean will be occupied for the night, I do not have an opponent. Do you really think I was just gonna sit around and wait for next week to wrestle? Hell no! This just gives me a chance to get some more experience inside the GCW ring. So basically here’s what’s gonna happen. I am issuing out an open challenge to any one person on the LockUp! roster. I am not taking the night off which means I want an opponent. So who’s it gonna be? Come on down and accept the challenge.”

An open challenge was all that he could do considering the people he was going to challenge were already in a match tonight. He lowered the microphone to his side and leaned against the turnbuckle. He continued to stare at the stage waiting for someone to make their appearance.

After waiting long enough, Carson lifted the microphone to his lips.

“So you’re trying to tell me that there is no one back there that wants to wrestle tonight. Now that’s just very sad to see. Come on, I know there is someone in the back that wants a match tonight. So come on now, who’s it gonna be?”

Victor Wayne walks out onto the stage in his marching band jacket and black slacks to no music, just shaking his head in disappointment.

Do you remember me, Caron? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. You don't have to worry about me though, I obviously don't have a grudge. Pity you're all damned to repeat the same conflicts over and over again. I do wish you good luck against Phoenix though.

Was that apathy, sarcasm, insincerity? It was hard to tell but it definitely wasn't an endorsement either side.

What's more important is that tonight my story continues. I satiate this new lust I have for victory. I add another to the list of names behind Uni-Man and Sylas Styles. I bury myself deep inside the minds of the Jon Pryors and the Jin Remmys and the Jack Jyndals of the world.

He cracks a smile.

I'm almost giddy thinking about it. So, have I grabbed your attention? At least for tonight?

Someone had finally come down to the ring and accepted Carson’s open challenge. It was none other than Victor Wayne. Carson remembered who he was and he also remembered the one match that they had. In that match Victor came out with the victory. Carson raised the microphone to his lips.

“I do remember who you are Victor Wayne. It’s been awhile since we have come head to head. Actually the last time we spoke was back when I set out an open challenge just like the one I’m doing now. I also do remember that you had won the match fair and square, but this time it’s gonna be a little different. You have beaten some great superstars here in the GCW but your little run will end tonight. No I’m not cocky, I’m just confident in myself. You are a great competitor and I am privileged that you came down to the ring and accepted my challenge.”

“So you are trying to get your name up there to the top, well I am trying to do that same. It’s good to have a goal like this to work toward. It will make you perform that much harder. The fact that you have beaten me in the past will make me indeed work that much harder. I’ve changed since those days. For the year I was away I was rehabbing my elbow and also training day in and day out. So Victor, I thank you for accepting my challenge and yes you have caught my attention.”

Kind of you to shower me with praise and just expose your weakness. I'm sure that strategy will take you far, Soldier. You'll forgive me if I don't extend you the same courtesy.

He gives his flourishy Elizabethan bow to his opponent and then retreats back behind the curtain to get ready.
