Holding out for a hero (Uni-Man)

[Victor Wayne]

The scene opens on Victor Wayne backstage in the halls of the GCW Arena. He paces around a bit as people pass him by and he's carrying a conspicuous black messenger bag. The look on his face says there's something important on his mind.

Is this a waste of time? I wonder if I have to call his secret hideout to set up a meeting or something. I mean I'm assuming he has one and all. He's a huge deal. Which might mean he has a secret line. Two-way radio wristwatches, maybe.

Well if that's the case I'd have been issued one for a match like this, wouldn't I? Isn't that the proper level of trust between two men, one of whom happens to be a big international superhero, in this situation?

He wondered out loud then just shook his head, dismissing the idea.

No, that's stupid. I guess he has to show up here sometime. I'll just wait.

[Xaviera Spirit Evolution]

Switching the lights off to the hallway, Kaori Xaviera quickly hides in a corner, complete with a flash light, and what looks to be a piece of paper cut out to a specific pattern. Shaking the flashlight, because it was one of those special, "environmentally safe" flashlights which turn on after a good shaking, she points the light at the ceiling while putting the paper cut-out over it. Quietly clearing her throat, she then begins to loudly hum the Uni-man theme song, as...his signal was now holding out for its hero.

[Corona]

And almost as if this was like the Planeteers summoning Captain Planet. A loud booming voice is heard through the hallway.

I AM Uuuuuuuuuu-NIIiiiiiii-MAaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnn!

A door in the hallway bursts open and a large gust of wind blows through the small corridor. A bright light emits from the room that the door belong to and a figure steps out. It was none other then Japan's number one superhero Uni-Man. He walked out of the door way and made is way down the hall as if nothing had just happened. His gaze landed upon one of the men who was also in the Championship Tournament. Victor Wayne, who had won his first round match will now team up with Uni-Man for the Tournament's second and final round of the PPV. Later tonight they go out as teammates, but come LockUp! they could be facing off against each other. Granted if they win their tag match. Uni-Man walks up to Wayne and extends his right hand.

Good evening citizen Wayne, how are you doing after your hard fought victory in the first round?

[Victor Wayne]

The theatrics had not been kind to Victor. Luckily he had realized what was going on when the signal hit and was as such ready for the superhero to come out of nowhere. However, he happened to be standing downwind of craft services and was now shaking slices of flying ham and cheese off of his jacket.

Lovely.

He'd caught all of them but he still figured he'd need to change. Resigned he returns the handshake.

I guess you know why I called you here.

Wait, did I actually call you here or did you just sense it somehow? And if that's the case it means there's nothing more important going on in the Greater Chicago area, right? I wouldn't want to pull you away from that for a strategy session.

[Corona]

The Hero retrieve his hand after the shake and it and the other in a fist on both hips. He listened to Victor and let out a hearty laugh after he was finished.

No need to worry citizen Wayne, I had just gotten through with a robber who was trying to take a young woman's hand bag. I was only in the arena for no more then a few moments when I sensed that someone who needed to speak with me.

Truly he had been just outside moments before dealing with the robber, who is now on his way to the station for processing. But the Hero didn't know that someone else had tried to get his attention in the arena. He didn't know that someone had used a makeshift Uni-signal to call him. Not taking to much time to let the silence between the two of them set in Uni-Man spoke up.

So citizen Wayne, what did you need to talk to me about. Was there some kind of emergency? Or did you need to talk to me about our tag match later tonight?

[Victor Wayne]

That's right, the match. We have to be ready, mentally. We've got plenty of advantages going in so let's make the best of them. We've just go so much in common.

What?

Our complementary abilities, our impeccable fashion sense, our flair for the dramatic.

He strikes a pose, looking off into the distance.

Plus I know both of our opponents. I've faced Pryce once before and I'm eager to get another chance to put him down for a bit of the old odin, dva, tree. And Pryor, well let's just say we go way back. I think it's kismet that we're facing each other again after all these years. I'd like to make the best of it.

Now we both know how alliance could end but I have to know, tonight are you ready to go out there and smite a few evildoers Brave and the Bold style?

[Corona]

Evildoers?...

Uni-Man was always ready to take down Evildoers. No question about it. He enjoys putting them down almost as much as he enjoys posing. Yes posing, nothing else could strike fear in the hearts of the bag guys. Or bring a sense of pride, respect, and safety to the people. I was about time for such pose. Victor Wayne had already done one which gave Uni-Man the urge to done one himself. Seeing that there was an open folding chair next to him. Uni-Man walks over to it and sets one of his feet on it and rested an arm on top of his knee. He garbed a corner of his cape and pulled it close to him wrapping himself with it. Then with lightning fast speed he swung his cape arm back letting go of it and letting it glide. It seemed to flap almost in slow motion behind him as glitter flies out from under it. The scene almost felt like it was out of an Anime from Japan, and seem to go on for awhile but only lasted a few moments. After his cape finally settled Uni-Man cleared his throat and spoke.

I am always ready for a battle against Evildoers. We must not let them think for one minute that the Will of Justice will not bend to them. Nor will our determination for victory and peace.

He continued to hold his pose as he waited for Victor to respond.

[Victor Wayne]

Glitter? Great... I'm going to look like some girl's Myspace page.

He muttered. Oh sure, glitter can just come out of nowhere, but where do you think it goes once it's airborne? That's right, anywhere it can reach and it was now giving Victor a bit of a sparkle himself.

Right... you basically took the words right out of my mouth. Will of Justice, peace, victory, all that. And you'll tell your special effects guy to bring it down a notch, yes? Unless all this is your ability or something.

I knew I should have read the book before I called you. Now I just look ignorant.

He finally opens up his bag, containing a thick Uni-Man English language manga, which he doesn't even bother cracking as reference material and a pen, which he holds up in his other hand.

Uh, hey. Since you're here you wouldn't mind...

He said, dancing around the “A” word.

[Corona]

For a moment Uni-Man that it was a little strange that Victor was talking about some special effects guy. He turned his head and noticed that poor Victor had gotten covered with glitter and it happened to by on the floor as well. He had completely forgot to mention that the robbery happen to take place at a Strip Club. The glitter much have gotten on his cape when Uni-Man tackled the robber onto the stage where the ladies danced. Quickly looking apologetic Uni-Man broke his pose and turned to face his soon to be partner.

I do apologize for the blast of glittery bits citizen Wayne. If I had known that it had been on my cape I would have changed before hand.

Uni noticed the pen and manga in Victor's hands and let a smile grow on his face. He loved signing autographs for fans. It's a real good way to connect with the people and get to know them. Even if it's only for a brief as the pen meets paper or t-shirt or what have you.

You have something for me to sign citizen Wayne?

He waited for Victor to respond.
