Static invades the airwaves taking the viewers away from their normal GCW action. The scene fades in on a poorly lit room with a man dressed almost completely in black topped with what looked like a military or a marching band jacket, also black. . The cameraman zooms in a bit tighter to get a better look at his face as he looks up to face them with a big smile.
Surprised?
I know you're all waiting for the old familiar faces. I'm hurt you don't consider me one of them.
He segues nicely from a frown to a chuckle.
Joking of course. I don't fault some of you for not recognizing me, I've been through some changes in the last year or so.
My name is Victor Wayne and even I have some important words about all the exciting developments in the world title scene.
I think I speak for everyone making their case that this all just seems so perfect. If you didn't know any better you'd think it was right out of television.
You know what I mean. Just think of the upheaval, the realignment, the destruction and rebuilding of the established order that could come about when one of this company's support pillars crumbles like that. Lovely, isn't it?
Irresistible to me at least.
You see, months ago I started to ask myself the difficult questions I'd been putting off from my former life. Is there more to all this than warm welcomes in other countries and cult hero status? Could I do better? And what's taking me so long to try again?
I won't bore you with the answers or the story since you already know the ending, but it's led me here, to this stage and the chance to rewrite everything you know about me. I'd like to inject a bit more uncertainty in this once-in-a-World-champion's-retirement occasion, add another variable, make filling the vacuum a little more interesting for all of us.
He leans back and crosses his legs with the big smile on his face again.
So, what say you GCW? Shall we dance?
