~What? Do you need the picture painted for you in
long
eloquent
words?~
~Can't you feel her at the top of the world?~
~The 96th floor to be fucking exact.~
~The Devil lives in the details.~
He lives alright.
~Betty muttered, in a completely different conversation from her
high
hard
cold
perch. A high powered scope freed from its more powerful component rested against her eye. A steaming cup of instant noodles at her left boot. Her right resting on the stone rail
elevated.
A small Japanese future-tech TV no bigger than the average persons fucking thoughts rested in her lap, the volume low to save her
precious
head from the inane chatter it spewed.~
Lookie, lookie
~Alice grinned with her tell tale smile, that
Cheshire
grin.~
Adorable.
~Betty turned the scoped to focus on the subject inside, catching glimpses was more than enough for her to show a flash of tobacco stained teeth.~
Don't they know there is one cat to rule them all.
Cheshire.
Mmm, and her little dog too.
~Betty didn't waste too much time in anyone place. Amanda Wallace's office, a phone permanently shoved up that well rounded ass, too bad she couldn't read lying lips. Wallace had brought Lessien in the first time, to her credit. But she was not quick enough this time.~
Oh no, not this time.
~There was no one responsible for bringing Lessien here this time. She was here of her own free will.~
~Volition.~
~Amusement. No, nobody would be responsible this time around and that was a very dangerous thing. The last time had been business. The last time had been for money. The last time was dead and buried. She moved her scope from offices to cafes, to rooms being prepared in 'the tower'.~
How fucking cliche.
~No, there would be no business this time. Lessien was a
very
wealthy woman, and she had done it the old fashioned way. The American way, with a gasoline can, a gun, and blood. The sweetest memories are forever.~
Oh Johnny. I told you.
~Another cruel grin as it had all come to pass just like she fucking said. She had read his book a hundred times, and evolution always wins.~
Oh-
~She was silent, cut off as her scope fell on a quiet park magnified. Alice turned the scope to crystal clarity with loving fingers.~
The Queen lives.
~Alice's voice trailed off as Betty studied the distant face something there that should never be. Something there that made the entire scene scream fraud. But all to real.~
Let us not be too hasty, Alice. On who still lives and who doesn't.
~And so was the first day, and the second, and the third. She watched. She smoked. She walked around the city for an hour before taking her perch again, and the whole play started all over again.~
