I DON"T LOVE YOU. CAN I HAVE ONE LAST HUG. THERE IS NO CHANCE MARK. NOR WILL THERE EVER BE... Then the sound like thunder came three times bringing nothing but searing pain with it followed by more words. DON'T DIE... Then the thunder came one last time. Hands on his chest pushing now and suddenly everything was spinning, tumbling as he fell through the air. Suddenly everything was so black so cold,as he hit the water of the river below, he was going numb losing the feeling in his limbs, dying? The cold seemed to rob his strength and the blood loss from his wounds only made that worse. He felt his body sinking deeper int the river his movements slowing his body dying? Thoughts ran through his head now. Am'I dying? Is this my time how it all ends? Don't let this be my time, I'm not ready yet. I don't want to die. Everything going black now, numb. No sounds, no sight, no feeling, just two words echoing through his mind. DON'T DIE... TO BE CONTINUED?...

I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!! That one thought roared through his mind forcing him back from the brink of unconsciousness and the death that would have followed should that have happened. I'm not dying, not here, not now, and not like this. He stopped moving in the water for just a second, calming, centering himself, before beginning to move again trying to reach the surface to get some air into his badly wounded body. Still it was hard every movement on his part brought more pain from the bullet wounds in his chest and sapped more of his strength but he could not would not give up with out a fight it just was not him. Above he could make out the faded light coming from the surface of the river it seemed so close and yet so far as he felt his strength slowly waning. Would it be enough would he make it out and if so what then. Pushing up struggling on he finally felt his hand break the surface of the water, but his strength was almost gone and he wasn't out of the river yet, worse he could feel himself starting to sink back into the water. No No so close it can't end like this I refuse to let it end like this. It wasn't enough though he felt himself slowly starting to slide back into the depths of the river. He wanted so desperately to move ahead but there was no strength left in his limbs to move him on, and yet just when all seemed completely lost help finally arrived.

"Hurry!!! Oh christ, I'm not even sure if he's still breathing. Is he? Well is he?"
A loud grunt. Then a hard pull, and almost instantly the body was pulled from the mirky water. A worried look on her face as the 6'8 giant of a man pulled with all of his might, finally landing on the bank of the river he had rescued the man from, both their bodies almost smashing violently against the ground.
She almost jumped down to the ground with a look of fright on her face, both she and her "escort" seeking to find out if the man was even still alive. Her hand made it's way to his neck area, and his wrist only seconds later, trying to find some trace of a pulse after seeing that his body movements had all but ceased.
Turning back to the long limo that had stopped no more than fifty feet from where they had caught sight of the man in the water, she waved her hands screaming towards the driver whom had stepped out of the vehicle after his passengers had exited.
"Call an ambulance!!! I don't think he's breathing, I'm...Not sure!"
Turning back to the scene, the large man that had accompanied her had already proceeded in lifting the man up from the ground with almost effortless strength. Her eyes bulged out watching him begin to carry the man towards the vehicle, obviously to wait for the help that would be soon coming.
She quickly moved, getting back to her feet and began following as quick as she could in high heels would allow. She and the 6'8 man seemed to be conversing back and forth in a foreign tongue as they scurried along the banks of the river. The look of worry was still in her face as she followed behind, pulling out her own phone and dialing a number, as she reached out, placing her hand along the man's chest trying to still find some sign of life in his body.

Mark was finally free of the river and it's cold embrace, and yet there was barley any life left in him at this point. Instead of trying to get all the air back into his lungs in one huge gasp he was having to work to even breath. Somehow though he was still barely conscious and as he managed to open his eyes the first thing he focused on was the woman above him checking him for signs of life, his vision blurred all he could make out was her blonde hair. Lindsay!? Why would she help him after shooting him in the first place, after trying to kill him. He spoke his voice barely a whisper but he had to know and even as he spoke his arms moved to his wounded chest trying to cover himself protect himself from any further harm. Why...why did.. you do... this..Lindsay? Tell..me...why? So much effort expended for barely a whisper of a question that couldn't even be answered her as it wasn't Lindsay he was seeing but in his half conscious state all he could focus on was the blonde hair Lindsay's blonde hair to his weary confused mind and so the question had naturally come out. His mind didn't even register the sounds of the sirens in the distance the salvation they brought with them still minutes away. All he could focus on was the woman whom he had mistaken for Lindsay. Lindsay who he loved so much and yet she had just tried to kill him it left him confused and in turmoil. He just stared at his rescuer blankly waiting for an answer that could not come here.

"I don't know! No, he's...He's muttering something. A name or something, hold on."
She found her way to the ground where her acquaintence had laid the young man, leaning in as close as she could trying to make out the name that was being spoken. Her eyes squinted slightly, trying to make out the name. But the more he said, the more confused she seemed to become. It was barely above a whisper and just as soon as he started to speak, it had ended just as swiftly.
Suddenly the sounds of the approaching ambulance could be heard. Quickly standing to her feet again, she stepped out onto the pavement of the road, raising her arms as she began waving the help towards them. The look of panic was still fresh in her eyes, as she once again made her way to his side on the cold hard grounds of the river bank, only seconds later the help arriving on the scene exiting the vehicle heading straight for the almost lifeless body mere inches from her.

The ambulance had finally arrived and the two men inside hurried over and started checking Mark out. Mark's eyes never left that of his female rescuer though as the paramedics checked his condition, his mind still believed it was Lindsay standing there close by, and couldn't figure out why she would not answer him. Looking into his eyes it was easy to see how much pain and confusion there was for him now his whole world had seemingly died with the gunshots that had almost killed him. He tried to sit up only to be held down by one of the paramedics, his eyes still locked on his female rescuer. He tried to speak again but couldn't find the strength to get the words to form. He wanted to scream to cry out, something anything to vent some of the confusing emotions running through him. He couldn't help but feel that life itself had seemingly turned against him to have once again lost so much, why was he always losing those he cared about and this time in the worst way possible. His mind couldn't help but feel that Lindsay hated him, what other conclusion could he draw after she had just shot him. Once more attempting to sit up only to be held down again he managed to get out a single question as he stared at the rescuer he still believed was Lindsay. His voice echoing the confusion of his mind. Why Lindsay? Why..do...you hate...me? Once more no answer could be given as the one he so desperately thought he was talking to wasn't there. Instead the only answer came in the form of a needle in his arm. As much sedative as the paramedics dared give him in his current state to keep him calm so they could do their job. Getting him stabilized they loaded him into the back of the ambulance letting his rescuer know where they were taking him and after getting what information they could about what happened from her. They let her know that she would most likely be contacted by the police since that was standard for anything involving gun shot wounds, then they sped away driving as fast as possible for the closest hospital and the chance for life that it held for their patient.
