BOOM! Zero shot up in his bed in a cold sweat. The pillow he had his head resting against was drenched in sweat. It was the nightmare again. A nightmare where he could only remember one part of it. An explosion. That's all that came to his memory. Anything before that was a complete blur, unable to make any kind of a clear picture. It was like trying to clean a window with mud. It was a constant struggle to try and remember anything that happened in that explosion that only happened a mere two months ago. His face was still very much scared to the point where it was unshowable to the public. The only part of his face that was still recognizable was an eye. When he went out in public, he would where a mask that would show his good eye. He could still see through his other eye luckily, but the skin around it was dead.
Zero pushed the sheets to the side as he got up from his bed. He stretched his arms and legs to wake up his body. He looked over at the clock and saw that it read 4 am. Seems that he would be getting an early start this morning. Zero was the type of person that once he was up, he could not get back to sleep. He walked over to the window and opened it. Dispite it being below freezing, the cold did not bother him. And he was standing in just a pair of boxer briefs. His body was quite fit. Not too muscular but toned enough. You know what they say, too much of one thing can ruin everything. Zero stuck his head out the window to see what was going on outside, as he saw police cars, fire trucks and ambulences. He looked about two blocks down and saw a near by hospital burst into flames. Who would attack a hospital? All those innocent people. But, in this day and age, what would be considered innocent. Zero thought to himself as being innocent in the explosion that he was involved in, but since he couldn't remember anything before it, he wasn't sure what he was, in terms of being innocent. Zero simply shook his head and pulled it back in and closed the window. He had to get out of Toronto. The latest explosion was the last thing he needed. He needed to get away to some place that was quieter, or at least explosion free.
The problem was, Zero didn't exactly have a job and the place that he was currently living in was quickly starting to run out of time of which he could live there for free. What he did remember from the explosion, was that he was very capable of fighting and grappling, as he had to do so just recently. He ended up fighting off a couple of muggers. The weird thing was, when he punched them in the ribs, they screamed out in. He had seen fights before and he has never seen anyone scream out in agony. It was really a peculiar thing. He never really looked into the issue. He mostly assumed that it was just some hidden strength that came out at the right time.
Anyways, back to Zero's needing to move and get a job. He wasn't sure of what other skills he had, but he knew he could fight. Boxing never really appealed to him and he wasn't trained for Mixed Martial Arts. So that left only one other option. That would be the world of Wrestling. He could locate a promotion in some city, have a try out match or two and if it went alright, he figured he would get hired for some long term commitment. He wasn't sure exaclty how the Wrestling world worked. He wing it until he picked up the business.
Zero walked over to his dresser. He looked down at his wallet which laid there. It was black leather and very warn out. Still, it served it's purpose in keeping his things that were a must. Like I.D. He pulled out one card. His driver's license. He remembered he could drive and he looked down at it. This particular one didn't exactly have his face on it, but it did have his name. Oddly enough, the name Zero Signal had been placed on the license. He again shook his head at the weirdness that he was feeling at this point and time.
What kinda sucked about Zero's life, was that he had no one. He couldn't remember his family and so he figured that they had left him for dead or he was announced dead to him. The same with his friends and his Fiancee of five years. It's amazing at how such an act of violence, if that's what it was, could turn a person's life upside down. he was literally starting over from scratch. At least, he thought he had friends and a Fiancee. He wasn't sure that this point. Anything up to two months ago was still foggy to him.
Zero looked back at his walled and saw a piece of paper sticking out. He reached for it and grabbed it, pulling it out of the wallet. He unfolded the paper and began to read it. He then nodded with a familiarity as it was a note from the doctor that he saw that stated that he was to wear a mask when he was out in public. So he could never really be questioned by any authorities to take off his mask. That was nice of the doctor. He folded the paper and placed it back into his wallet. It would still be a few hours before he'd be able to make any calls. However, that didn't stop him from looking through the opportunities for wrestling wanna-be's. Though, it wasn't like they would be showing up in a newspaper anyways. Maybe there was something on the televsion set that would steer him in the right direction. So sat back down on his bed and reached for the remote that was sitting on a small foot high table.
He pointed the remote to the television set and turned it on. Once the tv was warmed up, Zero started clicking through the channels. He then stopped on a channel that caught his eye(no pun intended). It was an ad for a new promotion that was opening up very soon. The initial's GCW, which still for Global Championship Wrestling lit up the screen and had an address and a phone number. Reach back over to the table, dropping the remote in the process, he grabbed a pencil and a piece of paper and quickly jotted down the info. This was great, just the break he was looking for. Perhaps things were starting to turn around. He could only hope anyways. Today would be the day that he would set out for GCW. How he would get there, he wasn't sure. He would do it by foot if he absolutely needed to. Whatever it took to get him to where he needed to be. Zero placed the pencil and paper back on the table and picked up the remote and turned off the tv set. He laid back down on his bed to think things through first. All he would really need were some of his clothes. At least until he made it there and had a match or two. Perhaps this was truly the turn around for Zero Signal....
