Cosette's life since coming to Chicago had been a constant stream of mental breakdowns, play acting, and things that left people asking difficult questions about her sexuality. And oh yes, don't forget about the guilt.
Plus she had just agreed to team with her “mother”, which meant training strategizing and generally spending far more quantity time with her than she'd ever expected. Of course the worst part was that she couldn't square her feelings about it with the reality of the situation. The whole thing was actually sort of fun. It felt better than constantly trying to take her to the psychiatric couch, which was just too confusing.
“Enough” she said one day and she decided that she was going to have a nice peaceful afternoon if it killed her. She took a seat in a booth by the window and ordered herself a cup of tea.
That was much better. She sat back and enjoyed the relative calm guilt and worry free for a while. Maybe she'd even meet a sane person if she waited long enough.
Alright... there was no chance of that.

Pushing his way through the entrance of the cafe', in enters DeShaun first. Right behind him was his brother from another mother Anthony. Sporting the white and black face paint that dawn during their times in the ring. What? You didn't think that the face paint was just for show? Hell no. It wasn't just some kind of fashion statement to announce their affiliations. It's a way of life. As they walk into the cafe, they looked around the cafe. This place has been here for how long? And they hadn't been here once? Guess they need to pay closer attention to home then they thought. Scanning their surroundings, they looked for an open booth for the two of them to kick it at. And they were in luck! There just happened to be an open booth and it had a view. The booth was sitting right next to the window. Maybe not much of a view, but who cares? The two men made their way through the tables until they arrived at the open spot that they had their eye on. Taking seats in the empty chairs at the booth, the two men took a load off. It didn't take long for the waitress to acknowledge the two newcomers. As she approached their table, she greeted the two men with...
Waitress: "Oh... Hello there.... How are we doing today...?"
DJ: "Pretty good, pretty good."
Ant: "Can't complain really."
Waitress: "That's good. What can I get you guys to start off with...?"
Ant: "I'll have a water. Just a simple glass of water."
DJ: "Ditto. Water for me too."
Waitress: "Alright. I'll get that right up for ya."
And off the waitress goes to retrieve their drinks... Anthony looked over at DeShaun, DeShaun looked back over at Anthony. Nodding their heads.
DJ: "Pretty sweet spot, eh?"
Ant: "Can't believe we ain't ever been to this place. Wonder how long it's been here."
DJ: "Who knows."
DeShaun began to look around the place again. Seeing what was going on around them. Seeing what was up. Didn't seem like much was going down. Pretty calm mood. Shrugging his shoulders, he looked back over at Anthony. He noticed there was someone at the booth behind him. He gave em a nod of acknowledgement. And simple said...
DJ: "What's up?"
Ant: "Huh...?"
DJ: "Talking to the chick behind you."
Ant: "Ohhhhhh."
Anthony turned in his seat and looked over at the woman who was in the booth behind him. Giving her a nod to.
Ant: "Sup?"

Cosette turned around after being called but when she saw the faces on the other side she jumped and scalded herself with hot tea.
Oh, God!
She catches her breath and realizes the cafe wasn't haunted.
Sorry, sorry.I was just off in my own little world. And I should be more used to people in face paint. Just not right over my shoulder. It's quite thick isn't it? Is there something going on?

Anthony covered his mouth. Trying not to laugh. They surprised her? Should have expected that. She probably wasn't expecting them to be so... Well... I guess you could call it... Social? You'd have to be, if you were in their line of work. Ya know? Anyways... Anthony held his hand over his mouth, trying to keep himself to laughing. DeShaun chimed in since Anthony couldn't answer right now.
DJ: "It's The Black Out movement."
Ant: "Yeah, girl. Black Out baby. Hahahaha..."
DJ: "Shut up Ant. Don't mind him. Dude's cool. But yeah, it's The Black Out movement. It's not just a look, it's a way of life."
Ant: "Perhaps ya heard of it? Maybe? Just a little bit?"

Well...
No...
Come on, make the save, Cosette.
But that doesn't mean it's a vibrant and relevant movement for social change. Tell me I at least got that part right.Either way I'd love to hear more about the cause.

DJ: "Oh, no doubt. Our cause is one that is the MOST relative in this day and age. We're talking about injustices ma'am. Injustices of the world. Injustices of the people. Ya feel me? And regardless of what people may think... It's not a simple ethnicity thing. Nah. Just because the name is The Black Out... Doesn't necessarily mean it's all African American."
Ant: "Real talk. We're talking about the entire race. The human race. People of all shades. Doesn't matter which. An injustice anywhere is an injustice anywhere."
DJ: "Exactly. Some might consider us a problem. Just a bunch of people making noise over a cause that probably won't have anything done about it... But we assure people... There will be something done. Action will be taken. Wrongs will be righted.... By any means necessary."
Ant: "The whole face paint thing? It's more symbolic than anything. People always say shit like... White people. Ya know? But white people are not white. They are technically called Caucasian, but they are the same color as snow or salt. Ya know?"
DJ: "In reality... White... is every single color... Come together. On that prism type of stuff. You know. With the rainbow thing. Which is the symbolism right there. White... Being all the colors combined... That's the thing for ethnicity. We welcome any and all."
Ant: "Yeah. Just cause it's called The Black Out, don't go thinking it's an ethnicity thing. Nah. It's about the race as a whole. Ya feel me?"
While the two were talking, the waitress had arrived. Dropping off their drinks before making her way to her other tables. These two seemed to be rather pre-occupied at the moment.

She nods along pondering each point.
That's all very deep. I guess I'm glad there's someone out there fighting for me.... I think. I suppose it's good that you have some direction though. The world needs more ideologues, right?
She laughs nervously, mostly because she was unsure of her joke.
Well... maybe not, but I can appreciate the spirit of all this. So, what's on the front burner for La Revolucion?

They pondered for a moment. What was first on their agenda right now? In the ring, they really didn't make a plan. Just came in the business and went right ahead to wing it. Outside of the ring, they did have one thing that was on the list. The top of the list at the moment. DeShaun began to nod his head and responded first...
DJ: "Hmm... Well...We do plan on trying to get something done about that bullshit that happened up in New York to that Simon Bell kid."
Anthony chimed in...
Ant: "Man, that was some straight up crap that happened there. Can't believe they just let all them damn police go like that. Didn't give them a damn thing for what they did to that poor dude."
DJ: "I know right. You hear about that m'am? The whole situation with that dude Simon Bell over in New York?"

Well now they had her. She was completely fascinated by the whole situation, which concerned her for some time, not like she would have to look anything about a situation this horrible up before speaking intelligently (seriously).
Sean Bell. Shot dead by police the day before his wedding. Yes, I've been following that one since it happened. I was in New York for some of that. The whole thing was just horrible. I suppose you'll be protesting the acquittal alongside Rev. Sharpton then?

Nodding his head, DeShaun responded...
DJ: "Exactly. That's the kind of things we're talking about. That's the stuff right there that we're really trying to change out there. I don't understand how our legal system can be so damn screwed up to look at that situation and not think they were guilty. Those damn police were let go off of all charges."
Ant: "What was it again? Like 50 or more bullets they sent into that man's frame?"
DJ: "It's some big number like that. They plugged Sean Bell with that many damn bullets... And it wasn't considered murder? It wasn't considered manslaughter? I mean come on.... They had enough time to reload, aim, and fire again... And that's not murder?"
Anthony shook his head.
Ant: "Nah. It ain't murder. It's bullshit. That's the kind of shit that The Black Out is down to get rid of. That's what we want to remove from the fuckin' world. You know?"
DJ: "Yeah. And we're not just saying that for Sean Bell's sake... We're saying for any and every person walking these streets that has ever been done dirty like that and not a damn thing was done about it. Of course, we can only be peaceful for so long..."
With that last comment, he paused. Shutting himself up before grabbing the glass of water that he had order earlier to take a drink from. Violent much? Only if the situation called for force. Sometimes talking things out doesn't get the job done.

I just hope things don't have to go that far. Although your justice system has already made it quite clear where they stand on all this. I guess the real question I have when things like these happen is what can we really do? Aside from raising awareness and getting the whole story out there that is.

DJ: "What can we do? You can't be serious... What can we do?"
Ant: "You familiar with the Declaration of Independence? There are but three things that the founding fathers of this country had said that we as human beings are entitled to... There was three inalienable rights that we are entitled to as a human race..."
DeShaun goes ahead and lifts one of his hands up. Preparing to number them off one by one with his fingers...
DJ: "Those three things include.... One... Life... Two... Liberty.... Three... Pursuit of happiness...."
Ant: "We are allowed to live, be free, and look for our own personal atmosphere that makes us happy. If those things are not allowed? Then what can we do? We can do what we as people tend to do when such rights are threatened... We stand and we fight.... That's what this country seems to teach us when other countries... Terrorists... Whatever the call may be... Threatens us... Why wouldn't they hold themselves against their own standards..."
DJ: "Exactly. You see.. We asked for peace in the past... Peace marches and all that jazz... We asked for peace as human beings... With us about our ethnicity... Our sexuality... Our damn happiness... We asked for peace in protests and marches.... And if they refuse to be peaceful with us back...?"
Ant: "Then we'll be forced to be human... If you know what I mean."

Yes, I think we all know what that means. So you're here for publicity, recruitment and eventually full-scale revolution, then? I suppose that's a little more ambitious than be famous and win a lot of titles. Are both of you dead set on this? Not questioning your conviction or anything... I mean obviously...
She points at the facepaint.
I'm just curious is all. And am I either with you or against you?

The two men nodded and responded...
Ant: "Yeah. None of this about all the titles and fame that is involved with the wrestling industry. We just saw it as a good place in order to get the word out and at the same time, work on our own skills in hand to hand combat."
DJ: "We do stand by our conviction and we'll continue to stand by it to the grave. We're not out here trying to make the world a better place , just for us to run and hide and say we didn't mean to when things get heated."
Ant: "Hell no. We stand. And we fight. Even if we have to "300" it, and go against the odds outnumbered... We'll do what is needed to get the job done. And as for where you may stand in all of this...."
DJ: "That is completely up to you. You want to join the cause? Come along for the ride. We've got no problems with our numbers growing. You want to stand to the side and cheer us on? Go right ahead. We've got no problem with those who don't feel up to going against the power physically. But... If you happen to stand in our way and try to stop or complicate things..."
Ant: "We'll have to remove you from being an obstacle. And we'd hate to have to see such a lovely looking lady like yourself be in harms way if you chose to try and stop The Black Out."

“Lovely looking lady” that clearly embarrassed her just a little, but in that fun “I don't want to seem vain,” kind of way.
Sorry, but most of my time is getting eaten up by another rather demanding social movement.Of course the goals aren't as clearly defined and I don't think we're overthrowing any existing power structures... although I'm sure she'd love for me to be president someday, despite all the difficult Constitutional issues that would pose. But I suppose you can add me to the well-wisher column for now.
