"Man look at that city. It's great when you got power, you know guys? I know it's cliche, but seriously man, we could run this city. You know, we got enough guys in "The Charge Assembly" to take out every single crew that wants to fuck with us. I mean, we're already half way there."
Yes, it was great to have power.
The three of them were standing on that balcony one September evening in the cool Boston breeze. It was Joe's apartment. A leather couch and two loveseats and a glass coffee table in front of all three of them occupied with ashtrays and empty wine glasses took up all the space that was available on that balcony. It was a Monday.
"Eh Jimmy, you always get so jippy about every little thing. And I don't think we're halfway there, we got potential, but we're not there yet. Taking over this city takes time, and we shouldn't rush. You're getting to ahead of yourself, man."
"Fuck you George, I know what I'm saying. You're just the low key guy that wants to wait and be patient all the time instead of going in for the kill. We've waited for years, and your still saying we wait? You know how many groups we've taken down over the last couple of years? We're already widely known, there's no need to wait anymore."
Joe kept to himself the whole time Jimmy and George had been talking about taking over the city. He was staring at the lights that lit up the streets and buildings, and was soaking it all in.
-Silence
"Eh, so Joe. You know "BM's" coming up. Who ya think they gonna get ride of this year?
"Yea Joe. Since your like da boss's little teacher's pet. Sucking up to him every chance you get to stay as his little wingman."
Joe broke out of his daydreaming once he realized that the both of them were talking directly to him. He refocused.
"Ya know, I don't know why they even have to do this every year. We always introduce a new guy every year, then gotta get rid of some other guy to keep it even. We got enough guys, and enough experience, yet da boss keeps getting new guys that he apparently scouted out from the streets. He's killing our chemistry as an Assembly."
"Ya I get whatcha saying, but he is the leader, and you can't really get anything by him, unless you're gonna change that Joe."
"Nah, we've come this far with his leadership. I wouldn't want to change his plan if it meant low morale for the Assembly."
-Silence.
"You know, that's another thing I've noticed Joe. Da boss seems to act more loosely towards you than he used to when we were all starting out. What's going on with that?"
"Ya, I've noticed that too. What's up?"
Joe had noticed that too.
"Eh, he's probably just acting like that because he's worked with me for so long. Sometimes you just get sick of the other person you worked so long with and your not as strong on that person after a while. But me and him are like blood partners. We've helped The Assembly into what it is today. He needs me just as much as I need him in order for The Assembly to become what he all want it to become."
That's what Joe THOUGHT.
